What To Expect

At Seven, you will start your journey with your guide to Elfayoum Oasis in private airconditioned vehicle. Expected arrival time is 10 am. After refreshment and having your tea you will start your visits. Elfayoum Oasis is about 120 KM away from Cairo with many Oasis around and the most famous for sure is valley of the whales (Sights as follow: Valley of the Whales, Wadi Elrayan, Magic Lake ). The tour In Elfayoum is by 4x4 Desert Safari. The tour takes a duration of nine hours.

Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan)

As soon you will arrive to Fayoum Oasis and you will have time for refreshment in the Bedouin tent after that you will start amazing adventure with 4x4 Jeep to Valley of Whales. Wadi Al-Hitan, in the Western Desert of Egypt. Which contains invaluable fossil remains of the earliest, and now extinct, suborder of whales, Archaeoceti. These fossils represent one of the major stories of evolution: the emergence of the whale as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a land-based animal. This is the most important site in the world for the demonstration of this stage of evolution, then the tour will continue through Fayoum Desert to enjoy Sand Dunes ( Sand Boarding is really amazing) over there.

Wadi El-Rayan

Wadi El-Rayan is a natural depression in the western desert of Egypt, 42m below the sea level. It consists of two lakes connected by Egypt's only waterfall. It was designated as a Protected Area in 1989 to protect the area's biological, geological and cultural resources. The Protected Area covers 1759 km2 in the southern part of El-Fayoum. The waterfalls are one of the best known attractions in Wadi El- Rayan Protected Area. The area conserves large expanses of desert containing a variety of landscapes and formations. Rare and fascinating wild life is found in the desert of Wadi El- Rayan along with fossils of creatures of past epochs and cultural heritage sites from ancient civilizations. Magic Lake is another adventure one hour swimming in the Lake that is will be amazing !!!

A unique and amazing adventure

I booked this trip looking for real adventure and it delivered. The Valley of the Whales is one of the most remarkable places I’ve ever seen. 40 Million years of history and well with the trip to see these fossils. The jeep ride through the desert is a highlight and so much fun.
To see the desert and how the different areas have developed, from the white sand desert which is actually shockingly so white, to the large fossilized mangroves, it’s amazing and unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere on earth- and well worth the 2.4 hour drive.
This trip is for someone who really wants to see a different size of Egypt, someone who is active and (and doesn’t mind hiking in the sand - even tho it’s hot!)
GEM explorer does the best at making sure you see everything you want. The lunch was a highlight for me and one of my favorite meals in Egypt.
I would gladly do this trip again - but next time spend the night so I can get more time exploring the desert!
