St. Catherine's Monastery
After sunrise, we go down the mountain to visit the monastery of St. Catherine which is considered one of the most famous monasteries in the world, and also it’s one of the oldest monasteries of Christianity. It’s located in heart of the Sinai Peninsula at a height of 1570 meters in the place where according to the tradition Moses saw the bush on fire which didn’t burn up. The Monastery is Orthodox and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery dates back to the age of the emperor Justinian 6th century. It was the same time of building an enclosure wall surrounding the monastery right now but the monastery was named Saint Catherine at the beginning of the 11th century in honor of saint Catherine, one of the earliest Alexandria Christian martyrs. It contains several monuments like the burning bush seen by Moses and the remarkable Icons Gallery.

Then return back to your hotel in Dahab.

Simply spiritual

The monastery was open but not the churches due to covid. We were allowed to enter to see the biblical burning bush. The well were moses met his wife. It was such a beautiful spot. The hike up the mountain took 2 hours. It is not an easy hike and luckily there were a few Bedouin huts open for snacks and drink. The hike is tough as you get close to the top. It is well worth the trip
A sight for sore eyes!!!

The Mt Sinai and St Catherine tour was well worth money. Our guide had a wealth of knowledge and could speak many languages. We were handed to the Bedioun guide to climb the mountain with took just over 3.5hrs to get to the top. Again our guide was full of knowledge and could speak many languages. The sunrise was spectacular and is a once in a lifetime thing to do. It is a must for any one visiting Dahab. We got to tour the St Catherine Monastery in the morning and it was amazing to see the history behind it.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I would recommend the private tour, that way you can do it at your own pace and have a nicer car. The view front the top of the mountain is breath taking gorgeous! So worth the time and lack of sleep, make sure you pack extra clothing because it´s freezing at the top of the mountain.
The 3.5 hour 2AM trek up Mount Moses...

The 3.5 hour 2AM trek up Mount Moses was an experience. It's a race against the clock to hike to the top of Mount Sinai before the sunrise..we made it with 10 minutes to spare. That moment is truly an experience. Our guide was more of a sheep herder, with his main obligation to get our 15 people group to the top of the mountain in tact and before sunrise. My future recommendation would be for the guides to explain more of the history of both Mount Sinai and St Catherine's Monastery. Overall, it's a must-see if in the Sinai area!
