Overview

Mount Sinai, also called Mountain of Moses or Mount Hareh, Hebrew Har Sinai, Arabic Jabal Mūsā. Mount Sinai is renowned as the principal site of divine revelation in Jewish history, where God is purported to have appeared to Moses and given him the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20; Deuteronomy 5). According to Jewish tradition, not only the decalogue but also the entire corpus of biblical text and interpretation was revealed to Moses on Sinai.

St. Catherine to visit St. Catherine monastery 220 km northwest Sharm el Sheikh and located between the St. Catherine’s mounts and Moses Mount which is the oldest monastery of Christianity. It is an Orthodox Greek monastery within its amazing walls rests a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures. Among its treasures is a library of ancient manuscripts and icons second only to the Vatican’s itself, and a 6th century church reputed to lie directly on the site of the Burning Bush.

What To Expect

Mount Sinai

Our representative will pick you up by an air conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh in the late evening and then you will be transferred for 3 hours to Moses Mountain.
At 02.00am you will then start the 3-hour climb of 2,285m up the mountain guided by one of our guides. You can climb by following a long path which leads to 700 steps. This takes you to the top of the mountain on time for the sunrise where you can enjoy a beautiful view.
Mount Moses is mentioned in the biblical story, according to which it was there that God gave the Prophet 10 commandments.
. Then, after walking 7 km, you will find yourself at an altitude of 2300 m above sea level. Along the way, there are stops for rest, there are tents with tea / coffee and sweets. At any time you can change to a camel (extra charge). The ascent lasts approx. 3 hours.

St. Catherine\'s Monastery

After getting down from the Mt sina, you will be met with your guide by the gate of the monastery, located between the St. Catherine’s mounts and Moses Mount which is the oldest monastery of Christianity, meanwhile, in the monastery where you will visit the transfiguration Church, the burning Bush the well of the prophet Moses, than transfer back to your hotel in Sharm.
