Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues located in the Theban Necropolis, on the west bank of the Nile in Egypt. They depict the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled Egypt during the 18th Dynasty (around 1390–1352 BC). The statues are made of quartzite sandstone and are about 18 meters (59 feet) tall. They originally stood at the entrance of Amenhotep\'s mortuary temple, but today they are the only remains of the temple still standing.
